Reality is an inevitable horizon that is presented to all of us. What may not be so present, is that:
1) Our interpretations of reality are different for each individual and
2) We ALL have the ability to select how we perceive reality.
In essence, this leads to there being an infinite number of interpretations of how reality works. Now, many may read this and think to themselves, "I have no control over my reality" or "reality is what it is", all of which are merely limiting you from achieving personal happiness. Concisely, it is our flawed logic that limits us in this situation simply because we submit out control to life instead of to ourselves. If you get anything out of this article please remember that the goal for all human beings is to have control over your life, not your life having control over you.
Additionally, reality is a force that can change your life and yet again, it is the choice and sole decision of how you want your reality to shape your life. It is a part of the human condition that ultimately shapes our perceptions. Withal, self-talk plays a crucial role in determining how you will ultimately perceive your reality. Unfortunately, most of our self-talk is negative (learn more about this here). This again is an example of how (on an individual scale) you reality can be shaped.
Alongside negative self-talk, your thoughts are also a great portrayal of not just what kind of reality you look at, but how you decide to look at it. In an article from Stanford News in 2018, they discussed the power of the mind on how it shapes your reality. They express, "the best known way the mind shapes reality is the placebo effect, where people get better if they simply believe they are being treated for a disease" (Stanford News, 2018). Concluding, the power of the human mind is a centric philosophy when understanding your own nature, and more importantly, your reality.
"Change your thoughts, change your life " -Tony Robbins
On a sidebar, I would like to share an individualized expression behind the power of this understanding. As many of you may have heard of a man named Tony Robbins, he has shared an article discussing reality as a 'story' and I think this Vedic is brilliant. Within his blog post, he lays out a five-step process where he designates that examination, self-reflection, and risk-taking are central powers of changing your thoughts (find the more in-depth explanation from Team Tony here).
Bringing it full-circle, reality is a force of nature that many of us determine as a negative weight that hangs over us like a ton of bricks, yet it can actually be a driving force that allows us to achieve the outcomes that we desire in life. Just take a moment and reflect, I guarantee there is at least one thought that enters your consciousness when you ask yourself the question of, "if I could do something without getting paid a dime, what would it be?" (asking yourself the right questions is another powerful catalyst for your success but that's for a separate occasion). Assuming you have at least one answer, go and pursue that answer in your life. In time, you will begin to see the world transpire to mold to what you want it to be, thus, reaffirming this truth that your focus becomes your reality. Whether it be to become an astronaut, music producer, Senator, engineer, artist, etc., the world will help you achieve this goal. Not because the world is actually changing for you (that's rather arrogant) but instead, your reality is now being shaped by your thoughts.
I genuinely hope this helped you in finding your path here on Earth. This subject of reality is a long and comprehensive journey that someone could ultimately spend a lifetime deciphering but for you, just note that your focus, self-talk, and the questions that you ask yourself will ultimately shape your reality.
Have a beautiful day, you are more than worthy.
